Clarke L. Smith is a talented artist and businessman with a unique vision and a multi-platform expertise in the visual arts. Born in NYC, and raised in Switzerland, he brings both a European and an American perspective to the projects he undertakes.
"I'm not only a photographer, graphic artist and a web designer" says Clarke, the owner of a design company that provides web, photography and video solutions. "My job is to determine the overall strategy and creative direction for a client's marketing efforts, assist them in selecting the appropriate medium for them and make sure the project is completed on time and under budget — and it works".
Working on an associate’s degree in business in Switzerland, Clarke moved back to the US, and began working in NYC in video production in 1985. Already an avid photographer, his work shifted to television, and a career at CBS in New York, where he worked as a camera operator on soaps, sports, talk shows and in news. In over 20 years, Clarke has become proficient in the operation of pedestal, hand-held, robotic and jimmy jib cameras. He recently picked up Steadicam and is looking for opportunities to excel at it.
In the late 90’s Clarke saw the explosion of the Internet as an ideal vehicle to deliver various media to a global market, so he studied web design (html, flash) and graphic design (Quark, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design).
In 1999, Clarke launched a promotional business in which he designed, manufactured and imported premium specialty items from Asia, selling them to businesses in the Wine and Spirits Industry. He sold this business in 2008.
Today Clarke is actively creating great websites, providing product photography and video for his clients. He shares his time between Northern California and New York City.
