Navigation & Layout
We often find it easier to begin building your website by creating a basic navigation (menu) as this will often determine the number of pages that will reside on your website, the navigation between the pages and the look (layout) of your website (vertical versus a horizontal navigation for example). We will create and ask you to proof and approve the basic navigation of your website at this time.
Once that is done, we will present the layout of the site, the colors, the graphics and pictures used to create the look of the site. After this approval, we will build the web pages using HTML unless your project is entirely a Flash site, in which case the page comps will be built as graphics that are later imported into flash and converted to movies. It is quite time consuming and not included in our estimates to change the layout after this approval.
Dynamic Website
Although it is easier for anyone in your company to update a "Dynamic" website, building a Dynamic (database-driven) website is more complicated and more costly than building a "static" website. Note: "Static" does NOT mean that the content of your website will never change.
Should you choose to have us build a dynamic website for you, the programming of the user-interface (which enables you or anyone in your company to update your site in the future) will be done after the pages that contain the dynamically generated areas are designed. Often combined with the Content or Final Approval, we may ask that you approve the programming work above. It is important that you spend some time working with any back-end interfaces to make sure they are easy to use. Two (2) hours on-site support is included with any Dynamic Website we build for you. |
